West Side offers a clear pathway for every player—from Core to Tournament, Travel, and Travel Premier—so families can find the right balance of commitment, development, and competition. Our goal is to create a place where the joy of the game and high-level development can coexist. With a partnership with the New York Red Bulls, and high-quality local training on the Upper West Side, players can grow in a supportive and competitive environment. West Side is building a community where every player has a place to develop, compete, and love the game.
Travel Soccer is a year-long commitment.
Travel players are expected to attend ALL practices and games. Travel teams practice twice per week during the week after school. Premier teams practice three times per week, twice during the week after school and once on the weekends on the opposite of their game day. For younger teams, most games are played games on Sundays, while older teams teams may have games on either Saturday or Sunday.
WSSL has been known for having one of the best communities in NYC soccer composed of ‘sane’ parents who maintain a healthy relationship with youth sports.
To preserve that culture, we expect all families to communicate with respect and perspective. Behavior that is disruptive, overly confrontational, or inappropriate toward coaches, staff, or other families does not reflect our values and will not be tolerated. Don’t be that person.
Let’s make it a priority to complain less and compliment more.
TEAM+ ATTENDANCE + BEHAVIOR + SPORTSMANSHIP
Red Bulls Coaches keep TABS on players after each practice and game
Did you know: The TABS is a best practice assessment tool that was created by West Side Leadership and is now implemented across several Clubs partnered with Red Bullls.
