Additional College Options - Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment (DE) offers students the opportunity to take college classes with college and university instructors on college campuses. Students earn high school credits as well as college credits. GPA and other enrollment requirements may apply. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the campus., tuition, textbooks, and materials. Contact your School Counselor to start the process of enrolling in DE courses.

What is the difference between Dual Enrollment (DE) and College in High School (CHS)?

CHS courses are offered on the high school campus with school district teachers who also serve as adjunct instructors for the college.  CHS courses are scheduled into the regular school day.  Both DE and CHS usually offer discounted tuition to high school students, but DE tuition is slightly higher.

Harrisburg Area Community College and Harrisburg University are conveniently located for Dual Enrollment (DE) courses. On-campus, blended, and online classes are available. Contact your School Counselor to apply for DE at HACC and/or Harrisburg University.

Cumberland Perry Area Career and Technical Center partners with Messiah College to offer the Emerging Health Professionals program.  Students take college science courses at Messiah, job shadow in a health care setting, and also attend classes at CPACTC. Students must meet eligibility requirements and apply to CPACTC  for consideration in the program.  See your School Counselor for additional information.

Opportunities for Dual Enrollment may be available at other colleges and universities. Discuss your goals and interests regarding DE with your School Counselor.
