Inspiration and Conceptualization: The piece is supposed to resemble my friend, Skylar. When coming up with an idea for the piece I was going to create, she was sitting with me. I just decided to make her.  There really isn't anything special to the idea.
Creation and Execution: First, I molded the clay into a ball. Then I cut it in half. After, I hollowed out each half. Once that was done, I scored and slipped each piece of clay and stuck them together. After I did that, I created the whistle part, or her mouth. I hollowed that out as well and stuck them together. I then began to create her hair, face, and hair clips. After I was done, it was able to be fired. Surprisingly, nothing broke off while in the kiln. Finally, after a few weeks, I was able to glaze it. Now the piece is completely finished. I think I did okay.

Reflection and Growth:  I think that I could have done better. I should have put more effort, especially since it was supposed to be a gift for her. I do think I grew on my clay making skills. At first, I was too disgusted to touch the clay because of the texture. I brought gloves each day. One day, though, I forgot the gloves so I was forced to make it with my bare hands. Because of the project that I took on, I got over my fear of the clay's texture. I call that a success.
