Inspiration and Conceptualization: At first, I was going to make a persons room. That plan did not go well, so I just started making random folds until it started to appear to resemble something. I then decided I would make a person climbing mountains. I then started painting grass and decided to make a pond, which I later came up with them symbolizing facing your fears/obstacles.
Creation and Execution: First, I began by making folds on one side. I then did the same on the other side of the book. After that, I created my little guy out of air-dry clay. Once he was fully dried, I stuck wire through him and hot glued him to the book to make it look like he was climbing. I then began painting in between and behind the mountains. I waited for the paint to dry and then I painted a lake. Afterwards, I made flowers out of some of the pages of the book. Finally, my book sculpture was complete.
Reflection and Growth: I think this is pretty good. I put a good amount of effort. More than I put on the last projects. I like the idea that I came up with as well. If I could go back and redo the project, I would paint less messy or find a better way to stick the figure onto the book. I'm not a big fan on how the wire sticks out of the sculpture. I think I improved my creativity and problem-solving skills by completing this project.
