ASCA MODEL FOR SCHOOL COUNSELING
Windsor follows the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) model for school counseling. This framework provides curriculum goals for the following domains.
Academic growth and achievement
Academic advising
Organization & Goal setting
Developing personalized learning plans
Helping to design individualized interventions to close achievement gaps
Post Secondary Readiness
Identifying skills and interest
Career exploration
Aligning school courses with future career goals
College, Career & Military advising
Social & emotional support and interpersonal skills
Developing personal values and beliefs
Social emotional Intelligence
Building self confidence & student agency
Healthy relationships and communication skills
Counseling services are based on the three tenets:
Talking to a counselor is voluntary.
Except in cases of personal safety, what a student says is confidential.
The responsibility for solving a problem belongs to the student.
