My name is August and I'm in grade 12. I like to play piano, draw, and do sports. Something I'd like to do after high school is travel abroad to Vietnam and Japan, get a job over the summer, get EMS training, and then go to college.
The college application is a grueling process. Participating in this flex course allows me to get the credit I deserve for the amount of hard work I've put into applying to colleges.
I'm taking on this independent study in order to prepare myself for advanced Spanish next semester. No intermediate classes were being offered, so this independent study allows me to get ready for next semesters advanced Spanish coursework.
In this flex course, I am responsible for 80% of the work, and the teacher is responsible for 20%. Kathy Thielen and I have weekly meetings to discuss my progress and address any areas where I may need help.
Like the flex course, I am in charge of 80% of the work, and the teacher is in charge of 20%. Kathy Thielen and I have meetings once a week, but I am also in contact with my advanced Spanish teacher to make sure I'm on track for her class.
Applying to college will impact my next four years. I'll get into a college, get a degree, and hopefully explore career paths while I'm there.
Bettering my Spanish will help me communicate with the many Spanish speakers in the U.S., it will help me when I travel abroad, and it will help me get Seal of Spanish Biliteracy which is attractive to colleges and employers.
