Found my 8 colleges to apply to
Personal Essay Brainstorming
VSAC
I started the college search process by touring schools nearby. These mostly just included schools in New England. Then, when I finally decided on the 8 colleges I'd apply to, I filled out the FAFSA and VSAC scholarship applications. I also took the SAT twice because Cornell and Dartmouth both require test scores. At this point, I'd started writing my supplementals and worked on my personal essay.

Don't Procrastinate
Be aware of deadlines
Ask for recommendations well in advance
Be aware of scholarships
Take advantage of school resources and support
I struggled writing my personal essay (which is required for pretty much every college)
I almost missed deadlines (I completed supplementals days before they were due)
I had to ask for recommendations for a scholarship days before it was due because I didn't know when it was due
At first, I didn't know how to balance college applications with school work and sports
I would ask for support sooner (My grandpa was a big help)
I would check deadlines first thing so I would avoid awkwardly asking for recommendations days before it's due and avoid the stress that follows an upcoming deadline that you haven't submitted
Even if I didn't know what to write, I would still write something so there'd be progress (instead of doing it all last moment)
I've learned that asking for support is such a helpful resource and that it's pretty accessible at BUHS
I've learned how to fill out a college application and how to write in a narrative style
I've learned of the many exciting opportunities that colleges offer (like research)
I've learned how stressful procrastinating can be (though I knew this before, I've never felt it like this)
