FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Filling out the application is essential if you're looking for the government to help you pay for college. Even if you don't think you'll be eligible for financial aid, some scholarships require you to submit the application, so we always suggest completing the application just in case. All of the information you submit on the FAFSA application is protected and will not be released to the federal government. Fill out the FAFSA application today to see if you qualify for finaicial aid or student loans!
HELPFUL TIP: Students are required to submit their email address on the FAFSA application and this will be the main way of contact if there is a problem with the application. We recommend students create and use a personal email address rather than a student email address for this application. Student emails are deleted after graduation and you do not want to lose the emails you receive from FAFSA.
To start the FAFSA application, head to fsaid.ed.gov to create a username and password for your FAFSA account.
Make sure to write your username and password down and double check all of the information you enter! You will use this same login every year, so make sure you save this information.
Once you have created your FAFSA account, go to fafsa.gov and select "Start Here". This is where you will enter in the same username and password you created on the previous website.
Shortly after logging into the application, it will ask you to create a Save Key. This can be between 4 - 8 characters long and any combination of letters and numbers. This will be used as a temporary password while you're working on the application. Make sure you write your Save Key down as well and keep all of this information together!
Applications are available beginning October 1st! Apply early for need-based scholarships, grants, and work-study considerations!
In the past, Fremont has held a FAFSA night both in the fall and in the spring. Since we currently aren't allowed to gather in groups, the state has put together a resource for a Virtual FAFSA Night. This is not a presentation, but a zoom call where you can work on your FAFSA application at your own pace. If you have a question on your application, you'll be able to notify the host and they can chat with you to help you individually. If you're interested in attending a virtual FAFSA night, follow the link below to RSVP.
