All students must pass Math 1, 2, & 3 with a “C” grade average or better to be able to take concurrent enrollment courses. If you didn’t maintain a “C” grade average in your Math 1, 2, & 3 classes, then you can use your ACT math score (21 minimum) to enroll in Math 1010 or Math 1030 To be eligible for Math 1050 with an ACT score, you must have a math score of 23. You still have to complete Math 1, 2, & 3 regardless of when you complete your ACT prior to registering for concurrent enrollment math. There is not an eligibility requirement for Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus.
Concurrent enrollment math credits never expire. If a student takes Math 1030 or Math 1050 that will satisfy the Quantitative Literacy (QL) requirements for General Education. However, what can ‘expire’ is the ability to use MATH 1050 as a pre-requisite for a higher math class. If two years has passed since your completed Math 1050, you will have to prove that you remember the material. You can prove this by taking the Accuplacer test at the college.
If you need Math 1050 for your college major and degree, but you don’t qualify, you can take Math 1010 your first semester in your senior year to qualify to take Math 1050 in your second semester of your senior year.
You should contact the specific college that you plan to attend and meet with a college academic adviser to make sure you are on the right track with your concurrent enrollment classes towards the specific degree you are seeking.
