Personality tests based on Holland Codes
Holland Codes are one of the most popular models used for career tests today. What kinds of things do you like to do? There are six personality types in Holland's model and most people will fit into a few of the categories. As you register for classes, be aware of what departments have classes that support your interests.
· Realistic: practical, physical, concrete, hands-on, machine, and tool-oriented. Realistic occupations frequently involve work activities that include practical, hands-on problems, and solutions. They often deal with plants, animals, and real-world materials like wood, tools, and machinery. Many of the occupations require working outside, and do not involve a lot of paperwork or working closely with others. Related class departments: Agricultural Science, Engineering and Industrial.
· Investigative: analytical, intellectual, scientific, explorative, thinker. Investigative occupations frequently involve working with ideas, and require an extensive amount of thinking. These occupations can involve searching for facts and figuring out problems mentally. Related class departments: Math, Science, Math and Science Applied Courses.
· Artistic: creative, original, independent, chaotic, inventive, media, graphics, and text. Artistic occupations frequently involve working with forms, designs, and patterns. They often require self-expression and the work can be done without following a clear set of rules. Related course departments: Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Commercial Arts, Digital Media, Language Arts.
· Social: cooperative, supporting, helping, healing/nurturing, teaching. Social occupations frequently involve working with, communicating with, and teaching people. These occupations often involve helping or providing service to others. Related course departments: Family & Consumer Science, Health Science, Social Studies Electives.
· Enterprising: competitive environments, leadership, persuading, status. Enterprising occupations frequently involve starting up and carrying out projects. These occupations can involve leading people and making many decisions. Sometimes they require risk taking, and they often deal with business. Related course departments: Business & Marketing, Information Tech.
· Conventional: detail-oriented, organizing, clerical. Conventional occupations frequently involve following set procedures and routines. These occupations can include working with data and details more than with ideas. There is usually a clear line of authority to follow.
