Heritage Library ebooks- I have been able to purchase many ebooks for our collection for all grade levels. Students should log into Destiny using the same username and password as when logging into a school chromebook. You can then search the catalog. You can limit your search by changing the material type to electronic book (this is under the search bar). If you want to see all of our ebooks you can change the material type but keep the search bar blank and just click enter. When you see a book you like click OPEN. If it is a MackinVia book it will take you there and you can follow directions below to log into your Mackin backpack. We are working to make this a bit more seamless for the future.
We have partnered with the St. Charles County Public Library to give students access to a huge selection of ebooks and audiobooks through the Sora website/app. Information for how to access these books is shown in the slideshow to the left. The Sora website is soraapp.com/
This app can also be found on the classlink website in the Library folder. Students can log in to classlink using their school email account and password and then they will automatically be logged into Sora once they click on it.
MackinVia is a digital resource database. They have released thousands of ebook and audiobook titles for students to use until September. They have multi-user titles which means that there isn't a limit on how many students can have the book checked out. They also have read along titles that read the book to you. They also have a program where you can save information in your backpack. I have created a backpack for every student at Heritage. Here is a link to a video about the backpacks. Your username is the same username you use to log into the chromebooks at school and your password is read. For example if Mrs. Krietemeyer was in first grade her username would be katiekrietemeyer31 and her password would be read.

When students log in it will list the school as Heritage Primary, but there are titles for K-6 available.
Many teachers have already set up an epic account for their classroom. In order for remote learning from home to take place parents should have gotten an email invite for Remote Learning Access. If you would like to access epic and your teacher hasn't set one up yet you can join my Epic class with the class code gvh3067. Once I have seen that a student has joined I will send a remote access learning request through epic to the parent email on file.
Common Sense Media has put out a list called Wide Open School that features a free collection of the best learning experiences and activities for kids, organized by grade and subject. You will also find daily schedules with creative breaks and recommendations to keep kids engaged and exploring, one day (or one hour) at a time. I use Common Sense Media a lot to help curate the library's collection. It is a very reputable source. wideopenschool.org/
