Gross motor milestones: Ages 3-6
Red flags to look for in gross motor development
Late in reaching developmental milestones (such as sitting up, crawling, walking)
Skills seem to be delayed when compared to same-aged peers
Moves stiffly and lacks fluid body movement or appears clumsy
Frequent falling, loss of balance when sitting, walking, running
Avoids physical activity or participates in physical activity for only short periods of time/tires quickly or frequently
Unable to perform multiple steps to correctly sequence a physical task
Loses previously mastered skills if they do not keep practicing them
Unable to generalize or transfer skills (using the same skill in a different setting/way)
Very fearful/hesitant with gross motor activities
Asymmetrical walking, running, jumping skills
Favoring one side (arm/leg)
Consistent, constant W-sitting with no other sitting options - unable to sit in another position with arms free to play with a toy
Constant toe walking, with no heel contact during gait pattern
