Weber School District Combined Marching Band
As a member of the 2025 Mountain Star Marching Band, I agree to abide by the following policies and procedures. I further understand that for the better of the band, a violation of any one of these polices will be result in disciplinary action as needed. Being a member of the marching band is being a part of team and all team members are valued and important.
1) Attendance Policy:
REHEARSAL: Members are expected to attend all rehearsals. Absences will be excused on a case-by-case basis.
Rehearsals are every TUESDAY and THURSDAY 6:00pm-9:00pm
BAND CAMP: The August band camp is REQUIRIED and all students MUST attend. No absences allowed. *Students participating in Drum Corp, attendance will be based on individual situations.
COMPETITION/PERFORMANCES: All competition/performances are REQUIRED. No absences allowed. Competitions times will depend on when our performance is scheduled. Please plan on all day.
Oquirrh Mountain Competition @ Herriman HS: September 27th
Bridgerland Band Invitational Competition @ Utah State University: October 4th
Wasatch Front Competition @ Riverton HS: October 11th
Mount Timpanogas Competition @ American Fork HS: Oct. 25th
Davis Cup Competition @ Davis HS: November 1st
State Marching Band Competition Red Rocks @ Utah Tech University (St. George): November 6-7th
2) To participate in the marching band, I understand I MUST be enrolled in a music class at your high school/junior high school.
3) All music must be memorized by the designated deadlines. Music will be passed off.
4) ELIGIBILITY: “Any U.H.S.A.A. sponsored activities must meet academic eligibility as established by the state or region. Music, Flags, Rifles…when competing must have a 2.0 G.P.A.” Members must maintain a 2.0 grade average and have no more than one failing grade to be eligible for competitions. Grades will be checked periodically.
5) I understand that I am required to purchase BLACK marching shoes, DINKLES. If you already have a different brand of black marching shoes, there is no need to purchase a new pair.
6) I understand that photos are taken throughout the season and I agree that my photo may be used on social media or for publicity.
7) I will not complain or listen to anyone else complain.
8) I understand that I am expected to listen to all instruction given and follow them to the best of my abilities. If I have a concern with the instruction being given, I will communicate that concern to the proper authority (section leader, drum major, staff, director).
9) I agree that my social media posts will reflect the band program, staff and band members in a positive manner. Remember, you are what you snap, post, insta, tweet, etc! Please be responsible in your social media communications. This includes parents and students.
10) FEES: All fees are non refundable and must be paid through PowerSchool or in your school's main office according the payment schedule below.
By submitting the attached form, I understand and agree to these policies and realize that the success and enjoyment of the Mountain Star Marching Band is dependent on my dedication and commitment to the band. My attitude and ability will combine with other members to create the spirit of excellence, education, and fun of the Mountain Star Marching Band.
