Just as we teach students to be safe, responsible, respectful, and kind members of our physical school communities, digital citizenship is the practice of teaching and modeling for students how to be safe, informed, compassionate, and respectful community members when using the internet and online platforms. The overarching practices of a thoughtful digital citizen can be separated into the areas of information literacy and personal safety and responsibility. These practices apply to all areas of our lives when using digital technology, whether it is when interacting with others on personal social media accounts, or researching credible resources for a class assignment.
