Lit2Go audiobooks

• Lit2Go is a free online collection of stories and poems in Mp3 (audiobook) format. An abstract, citation, playing time, and word count are given for each of the passages. Many of the passages also have a related reading strategy identified. Each reading passage can also be downloaded as a PDF and printed for use as a read-along or as supplemental reading material for your classroom.

• Variety of books/readings for every grade level based on the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level index:

LibriVox audiobooks

• Free public domain audiobooks for anyone to listen to, on their computers, iPods or other mobile device, or to burn onto a CD.

• Large variety of books/readings (over 16,000) but there may not be many options for the younger students.

• No search option for grade/age, can only search by title, author, genre, or language.

Project Gutenberg audiobooks

• Free eBooks- (from site): 'Choose among free epub and Kindle eBooks, download them or read them online. You will find the world’s great literature here, with focus on older works for which U.S. copyright has expired. Thousands of volunteers digitized and diligently proofread the eBooks, for you to enjoy.'

• Large variety of eBooks (over 60,000) including sheet music, pictures, and other content.

• Files available in a wide variety of formats.

• No search option for grade/age, can only search by title, author, language, format, and filetype.

Ginger (Dyslexia)

• Software to assist with correcting grammar and spelling, and can help improve student's writing.

• Free version (limited); Paid subscriptions available.

Learn Out Loud - audiobooks, videos, podcasts

• The majority of files are free to access online or through download.

• From site: "The LearnOutLoud.com Kids Audio & Video Directory offers a selection of over 2,000 educational audio and video titles for kids and teens. Here you’ll find audio books, podcasts, and free videos for kids to learn from."

• No search option for grade/age, can only search by title, author, language, format, and filetype.

Magic Keys online text and audiobooks

• Free online children's books that range from preschool, young children, teens, and young adult.

• Limited selection of books and only a few books include audio. The other books can have the text read out loud on a Chromebook using the Read&Write for Chrome or ReadAloud extensions. Some of the online books include animations as well.
