Read the story: The Gingerbread Man and enjoyed many fine motor building stations, such as: rolling play-dough to make "cookies", building and decorating gingerbread houses and Christmas trees, winter sensory bins, and more!

Got a one-month update from our calf, Sprinkles! She is growing fast and weighs more than the students in our class. :)

Mrs. Irwin's Class
We adopted a cow! Meet Sprinkles, a 93 pound Holstein calf. She is located at Kurtland Farms in Everson, PA. This year we will follow her growth and development at her dairy farm.
This month's activities included learning about germs, adopting our cow, and building a fence for our "Creepy Carrots".

August/September
Some of our favorite activities included:
Building tall structures on the light table.
Reading stories about bridges. Then building and making our own bridges with large bricks and Duplo blocks.
Using sensory bins to explore building, scooping, and motion (ramps).
Exploring and building large ramps.
Exploring push and pull concepts using cars and blocks.
Students are learning and demonstrating essential STEM skills such as: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity!

August/September
Some of our favorite activities included:
Exploring energy (kinetic and potential) and motion through the use of ramps and marble runs.
Exploring force (a push or pull).
Understanding and exploring the use of simple machines: ramps, screws, pulleys, wedges, wheels and axles, and levers
Students are learning and demonstrating essential STEM skills such as: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity!
