Used our magnetic understandings to design a magnetic dog door system that will keep rats out and the dogs in their kennel.
Imagined and planned our dog door designs.

Celebrated a whole school GLOW Week during the PSSAs.

March 2026
This month we:
Explored magnetic attraction and repulsion.
Students began work in teams and use the Engineering Design Process to design a magnetic door system for a dog shelter. The door system must allow shelter dogs (who wear magnets on their collars) into the kennel but prevent other animals from entering. Using their knowledge of magnetic attraction and repulsion, students will begin to imagine, plan, and create throughout April.
February 2026

Learned how to navigate Dash (robot) and Blocky for Dash App.
Began a new Engineering Unit, Engineering Magnetic Dog Doors. Please see parent letter below.

Take a look at our Warrior Run Elementary Thanksgiving Parade! The parade was enjoyed by all faculty, staff, and students. Great job to all of our little engineers!
October 2025
This month we:
We explore balanced and unbalanced forces as we made marble runs.
We used a ramp and a toy car to observe and measure an object’s motion, providing evidence that a pattern can be used to predict future motion.
August/September 2025
The beginning of the school year included learning routines, STEM behaviors, teamwork, and the role of an engineer.
Some of our favorite activities included:
Learning about and exploring the various jobs that engineers have.
Creating, testing, and improving hoop gliders as we applied criteria (must-haves) and constraints (limitations) to our designs.
Curent unit: Water Conservation
Students are working to determine possible solutions to problems caused by changes in the environment.
