The SPOT Program

The SPOT Program was originally developed by our team to take advantage of The SPOT series created by Diane Alber. The SPOT series explores different emotions and feelings that happen and give the students an easy and engaging way of learning more about them.

Since our original discovery of the books, Diane has published numerous additional books as well as two different sets of books looking at positive actions and life skills.

The original series includes: A Little SPOT of... Anger, Anxiety, Peaceful, Happiness, Sadness, Confidence, Love & Scribble Spot

The take action series includes: A Little SPOT of... Kindness, Responsibility, Patience, Respect, Honesty, Organization, Diversity, & Safety

The life skills series includes: A Little SPOT of... Courage, Perseverance, Teamwork, Talent, Thankful, Optimism, Creativity, & Giving

This SPOT Program guide was created adhering to Common Core standards and CASEL: Effective Social-Emotional Learning Programs. It was developed to be a fun and creative resource to teach FEELINGS & EMOTIONS to elementary school students. The activities and lessons are created for 5-8 year olds, but can easily be adapted for younger or older students.

MHCB Program Manager Notes:

PM Note: Buying the SPOT books on Amazon Kindle Cloud Reader is more cost-effective than buying the physical copies of the books. Coaches can display these books (through Kindle Cloud Reader) onto a projector for the whole class to see and read.
