Creatology

The Creatology program was created by Vermillion Is Being Empowered (MHCB in Vermillion) using best practice programming to enable students to develop appropriate social skills. The program aims to increase social and emotional skills, promote resilience, and hopefully reduce anxiety as students learn coping skills and self-expression.

During classroom sessions, students will read books written by Peter Reynolds and explore:

self esteem (strengths, weaknesses, feelings)
working with peers in the classroom and other environments
social skills
self-expression through art

Goal: Identify our own strengths, goals and feelings around them through the expression of art.

Goal: Understand self-confidence, trying our best, being aware of surroundings, and flexible thinking as a result of the art activity.

Goal: Understand self-confidence, trying your best, believing in yourself as a result of the art activity.

Goal: Develop varying points of view of the world through thinking outside the box, and pushing oneself to the next level through the use of art.

Goal: Identify their own strengths, goals and feelings around them through the expression of art.

Goal: Understand mindfulness and how it can used to help deal with strong emotions.

Goal: Identify different parts of our identity that support us, help us grow, and be uniquely ourselves

Goal: Identify our own goals and feelings around them

Theme(s): Self Talk, Positive Affirmations, Character Strengths

Goal: Identify their own strengths, and practice positive self talk as a way to cope with adversity
