Can older students use laptops instead of chromebooks?

At Wetaskiwin Regional Public Schools we recommend a chromebook for any student in grades 4-12. Chromebooks will be easiest for students to use with the LEAST amount of tech issues.

IF an older student requires more computing options than a chromebook can handle or a High School parent is looking for a purchase that can meet their student's needs beyond High School, than a laptop may be suitable for that student.

*Please note that WRPS teachers will not be troubleshooting tech issues for any devices beyond chromebooks.

Chromebook

*Recommended for grades 4 - 8, 9-12

  • More expensive

  • Stores files on its hard drive AND stores program on its hard drive or the cloud. Can back up files to cloud storage.

  • you can choose the RAM and hard drive size
