FAQ

Where will my child's device be stored?

Each school will decide how student devices will be stored while they are at school. Some options include locking the classroom door when students are not in the room, in lockers or in a locked cabinet. You school will communicate with you about this process.

Can my child charge their device at school?

No, your child's chromebook has to come to school fully charged. Chromebook batteries last 6-8 hours and therefore if your child charges their device in the evening there will be no issue with batteries throughout the school day. Our buildings do not have the wiring capability to plug in multiple student devices throughout the school and we do not want to risk any electrical hazards, therefore all student owned chromebooks need to come to school fully charged.

What if we can't afford to buy our child a chromebook?

That is totally fine! BYOD is a completely optional program. WRPS will ensure every student has access to the technology they need for learning. Please note that we have partnered with Staples in Leduc and Camrose and they offer 0% financing over 6 or 12 months if that is a more suitable option for your family.

Who will help my child is they have issues with their device?

Teachers will be able to help students access the internet and troubleshoot basic issues with apps used at school like Google Classroom, google sheets or google drive.

Any other technical issues can be addressed where the chromebook was purchased.

Can my child print from their chromebook or laptop at school?

No, students will not have access to printers at the school. They can however, share their work with their teacher and their teacher can print it for them if needed.

Student can also print at home with their chromebook if they have a printer at home. Chromebooks can be connected with a usb cable or through wifi.
