As students make course selection choices, teachers will find the document and graphics below helpful when having conversations with students and their parents about which course(s) students might take to help them reach their goals.
It is important that conversation around course selection with students be focused on students' goals rather than their perceived ability, potential, learning skills or work habits. Rather than make suggestions about pathway choices, teachers and guidance counselors may provide context about Grade 11 math choice to inform students' next steps in mathematics.
