Peter Liljedahl's book Building Thinking Classrooms shares his years of research into making changes to teaching practices to improve students' learning by fostering thinking. The practices described in this book enable teachers to increase student engagement, promote mathematical problem-solving, and observe and respond to students' learning in ways that allow all students to have access to high level thinking and learning.
The resources and supports included on this website to support the MTH1W course heavily utilize the practices of the Thinking Classroom.
Most lessons, resources and supports will make explicit connections to these practices.
Each WRDSB math department member should have access to a copy of the book. Speak with your department head or administrator.
