My Live Plan
We are the Itinerant Coaches for the 2021-2022 school year!
We each teach one section of MTH1W, and we support WRDSB secondary math teachers in implementing the new MTH1W curriculum by:
co-planning, co-teaching,
hosting visits to our classrooms and visiting MTH1W classrooms,
finding, adpating and developing resources connected to curriculum,
developing professional learning opportunities, and
trying new (to us) strategies, learning from our failures, and refining our successes.
Each semester, Itinerant De-streaming Teacher-Coaches will be teaching one section of MTH1W and have two sections allotted to their coaching role.
Itinerant coaches will support de-streaming in our schools by supporting educator learning in classrooms, schools and across the system. They will provide leadership and support the achievement of the Board’s Strategic Plan through building capacity in professional learning networks and creating equitable conditions for learning and optimal outcomes for each and every student.
Provide leadership in explicitly embedding the principles of equity, anti-oppression and anti-racism into classroom practices
Apply the tenets of Inclusive and Universal Design for Learning, striving for curricular instruction that is inquiry based, culturally responsive and developing global competencies to instructional and assessment practices
Be familiar with current resources, curriculum and research that support effective pedagogy, technology-enabled learning practices and global competencies
Deliver professional learning workshops and webinars to support teacher colleagues
Maintain familiarity with Board and Ministry policies and priorities
Attend ongoing Professional Learning sessions for De-streaming Teacher-Coaches
Host and facilitate regular visits to an exploration classroom for individuals or small groups of teachers (pending public health protocols)
Demonstrate effective teaching practices and student engagement strategies
Plan exploration classroom opportunities
Develop professional learning workshops and webinars across disciplines and subject areas
Collect and create a variety of digital and print resources to support teachers in the subject area
Build a professional learning network with other Itinerant De-streaming Teacher-Coaches in the planning, execution and support of exploration classrooms and professional learning activities
Support individual teachers in building and sustaining professional learning communities
Mentor individual teachers to co-plan and co-create learning opportunities and resources
Provide opportunities for collaborative lesson, assessment, and program development (i.e. implementing UDL and differentiation strategies, moderated marking, adopting data paradigm evaluation, lesson studies, etc)
