In the afternoon, I will be your child's teacher. This half of the day will be in French. Every week our learning will focus on Math and on Language (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing--all in French!). We will also take time to explore Social studies and Art. You'll be able to follow what we are learning as I post details here on the pages dedicated to each subject.
About Me
Last year I really enjoyed teaching in the Grade 1 French Immersion class, so I am really looking forward to getting to know this year's students. I'm excited that this year I get to spend even more of my day in Room 30! For almost 10 years now I have been a French teacher, and this will be my fourth year teaching at Ryerson.
My family is a little smaller than Mrs vanRees', but we make our home in Guelph. We like adventures too, especially canoe trips that take us deep into the wilderness for days and days. But for those adventures, we leave one family member at home: our dog, Murphy. When we're canoeing, a friend stays in the house and takes care of her. She stays at home because she would like nothing better than to jump out of a canoe to chase a beaver, or go running off into the hills after a bear. Maybe she's just a little TOO adventurous.
This will indeed be a school year different from any we've ever known, but as we tackle the challenges ahead together, we are going to grow an amazing community of learners. One of our big goals this year is to form a community that truly values the safety and well-being of each person. With that in mind for everything we do, we are going to have a great year together.
