Oct. 25, 2020

Looking ahead at this week...

  • Monday is Library Day - Mrs. George will be coming by the classroom in the morning to exchange books.

  • Friday is Orange and Black Day - Feel free to dress your child in orange and black on Friday. Students have been asked not to bring costumes or class treats by our school board. Thank you for understanding as we continue to navigate through all the Covid-19 changes this year.

  • Indoor Shoes: As the weather continues to change, we have now been given permission to keep indoor shoes at school. Please send a pair of shoes that can stay at school. Running shoes are the best indoor shoes, as we are moving around all day and may be in the gym on certain days. Please send a pair of shoes that your child can independently put on. If you send shoes with laces, please practice tying their laces at home, so they can be independent. Velcro running shoes are ideal!

Oct. 8, 2020

Just a few reminders/updates...

  • NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 12

  • Please pack extra masks for your child. There are many students who are wishing to change their masks after each time they are outside with Mr. Praamsma or Mrs. Maloney for Gym. Packing an extra 2 masks in your child's bag would be helpful. If that's not possible, we do have clean masks that they can have. If your child comes home with a black material mask, don't be concerned, it's one of the school masks that is now theirs to keep. Please wash and add to your collection of masks for your child.

  • Library books can be exchanged tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 9), Monday Oct. 19 and Monday Oct. 26.

  • On rainy days, students are welcome to wear rain boots and bring a pair of indoor shoes. For now, their indoor shoes will need to travel between home and school each day until the weather gets too cold/wet for running shoes outside.

Sept. 23, 2020

We are now ready to sign out books. You can do this from home using the Library Learning Commons (https://library.wrdsb.ca/). You need to log in using your child's username and password that Mrs. vanRees emailed to you last week. Play through the slides below that Mrs. George put together and it'll help explain our new library process (and the video will help explain how you can reserve/sign out books from home). Our library day will be on Day 4, starting this Friday, Sept. 25.

Library Orientation Presentation

Sept. 18, 2020

What a great first week! It was so nice to have the whole class together today. Looking forward to learning together this year.

Our students worked hard this week, learning about their new friends, learning the new school rules and routines, learning in 2 languages everyday, all while wearing a mask! Our students have done a great job at wearing their masks and not touching them much during the day - thank you for working on this before school started - your hard work is paying off!

A few things to note:

The first week of school notes that were on this page are now on the drop down menu under HOME, titled First Week Reminders. The survey is also located there, in case you still need to fill it out.

Mr. Praamsma will now be teaching the students Science and Dance/Drama in English during the morning in addition to the French instruction in the afternoon.

If you have any Ryerson Library books, Home Reading books, ipads or Chromebooks that were borrowed in SK, could you please return them ASAP.

The Library will be opening SOON for book borrowing. This will look different this year, as Mrs. George will come around to classes to hand out books that have been reserved (instructions on how to do this will be coming out soon).

GOOGLE CLASSROOM

You should have received your child's username (email) and password to log into Google Classroom as an email from Mrs. vanRees either on Monday or Tuesday.

There will be 2 classes for your child - one for English (with Mrs. vanRees) and one for M. Praamsma. Currently the information on both classes are for students who are NOT in the physical school building. If your child is attending in class, there is nothing for them to do on Google Classroom yet. We will start practicing how to independently login and use some of the tools available so your child will have some understanding of how to use it, in case they have to be home for longer than 3 days.

You can easily log into Google Classroom using the 'Google Classroom' tab at the top of our website.
