2/3/24 @ Boston Latin School: Three teams of four adventured towards the roar. Three teams of four attempted to conquer their scores. Another heroic attempt made by WHS JCLers to bring home rewards: a proud Magistra DeCamp, amongst others, for fighting off the hoards. The results, m'lord? Novice in 8th, and their comrades in Advanced and Intermediate in 5th.

2/12/24 @ WHS: Co-President Rebecca and Editor Mei toiled three hours to coat strawberries and marshmallows in chocolate in an attempt to get students to fish out their wallets. Love spell, or selling hell? O, Valentine's, thy extort other's money well. Yet in our endeavor to raise funds, yes, we excel.

3/23/24 @ Harvard University: On this day in history, 10 members of the Winchester JCL attended Harvard Certamen! Players answered tough questions on language, history, culture, and mythology, sharpening their Latin skills and buzzing their way to the top alongside some of the best teams in the country. The day started with a meaningful opening speech from Professor Emily Greenwood about how students can apply their knowledge of the Classics to analyze history and expand their understanding of the world. Afterward, each team racked up points in three cutthroat rounds of certamen. We had lunch in Harvard Square before rushing back to watch the intermediate semifinal round. Intermediate ended in 6th place, advanced in 22nd place, and novice in 10th place. Everybody enjoyed putting their knowledge to use in a tough competition, learning Latin and leaving Winchester logos on Harvard blackboards along the way! (Written by Chloe Silbermann).

Jan-April 26th: And thus WinJCLers awaited for State Convention, eagerly nibbling on their snacks in Magistra DeCamp's room awaiting for the day to arrive. Flipping through past scrapbooks in search for inspiration, cutting out magazines for collages, hammering nails into our chariot– all worked hard to prepare for this faithful day to arrive, and all nervously drew doodles on Magistra DeCamp's white board to destress. Diagrams were carefully drawn to create our worm dream teams in search for redemption after our performance during kickoff, and screams could be heard over Co-President Rebecca's frantic 11 PM Facetime calls. We wish we could say more, but unfortunately we would like to keep some of our secrets a surprise. For now, please enjoy these various pictures hinting at what's next to come.
See you in a few weeks....
