Grade Parent representatives are an integral liaison between the school, PVG and parents. They have multiple responsibilities throughout the school year:
Welcome all parents, especially those new to WPGA
Send/maintain family contact lists
Facilitate grade social
Liaise with homeroom teachers and parents on year’s upcoming events (e.g. class parties, field trips)
Collect and manage voluntary family donations
Organize teacher gifts
Connect parents to the grade WhatsApp chat, allowing them direct contact with their parent community
Year-round but majority of tasks are done September-October
The commitment is for the full school year, with a heavier workload during the beginning of the year (welcome, contact lists, grade social, grade collection). One member of the group could be assigned a communications role, and another could be in charge of the grade collection. Each Grade Parent team should ideally consist of at least three volunteers.
Note: To leave space for as many parents to volunteer as possible, we ask that Grade Parents volunteer for a tenure of one year only (not back-to-back years). Should there be less interest / not enough volunteers in a particular year, then this rule can be relaxed to allow an additional year for the previous year’s parents; contact the Grade Parent Committee Chairs to indicate your interest.
