Assist students to understand the career decision-making process that culminates with their personal career/educational plan and provision of transition-related guidance including exploration of post-secondary options. Use interests to develop course of study.
Assist students to identify tentative career interests and develop their personal career educational plan that is incorporated into a four year high school plan.
Services that guide students though a process to make and implement common core, educational and occupational plans based on informed choices; services should assist students in exploring career options with attention to surmounting gender, race, ethnic, disability, language or socioeconomic impediments to career options and encourage nontraditional career choices when appropriate. Services may be delivered individually or through group or class activities. The National Career Development Guidelines (NCDG) and National School Counseling Standards provide an extensive list of age and grade appropriate competencies.
