It is our desire that students, faculty, and staff behave in a respectful and courteous manner in the classroom, around campus, during athletic activities, and in personal lives.
Students will address all adults by their last name and appropriate tile, such as Mrs. Smith, or Mr. Johnson.
“Prefer one another in love.” Scripture also tells us that a child’s character is known by his/her actions. Each day teachers and staff work diligently to provide the best opportunity for academic, spiritual, social, and personal growth for each student. Cooperation with the expectations of WCS and exercising courtesy and obedience toward school rules and those who enforce them will help to promote a safe and encouraging learning environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
• Students are expected to know and follow the teacher’s classroom rules and procedures.
• Students must never leave the classroom or school grounds without permission from a teacher.
• Students are expected to take proper care of school buildings, furniture, books, and other school provided materials.
• Students are expected to enter and leave the classroom in orderly fashion.
• Respecting the teacher and other students is important at all times.
• Students are expected to comply with all playground and lunch rules and procedures.
• Respecting and obeying adult supervisors, including volunteers, is required.
Striking another with intent to do bodily harm is a serious offense, and students may be suspended or expelled for such behavior. We do not consider this kind of activity in keeping with the Christian standard of conduct. Students must not hit, punch, wrestle, etc. other students.
Students are expected to always be respectful and kind in their interactions with other students. Vulgar or inappropriate vocabulary and/or conversation will not be tolerated. This includes conversation and actions on the playground. Any show of physical, romantic affection between students (e.g., kissing, holding hands) is not allowed.
Students are expected to eat their lunches in designated areas. Students not eating food items brought from home should bring them back home rather than throwing them away. Students may never share lunch items with other students. A special table will be provided for students with food allergies. Soda is not to be brought for lunch.
Students are expected to respond with respect for and a willingness to obey their teachers, staff, and volunteers helping out in the classroom, library, lunch area, or playground.
Chapel is a time when our school meets together to sing and be taught principles from God’s word. Our singing time is led by special guests, our middle school or high school chapel bands, or one of our elementary school classes. We invite speakers to come and share a lesson with our students. We expect students to be orderly and respectful to those who are speaking.
All personal belongings and all clothing should be clearly labeled and marked to prevent loss.
Students are responsible for maintaining personal and school issued materials. Lost articles will be stored in a container in the PE/recess shed. Articles not claimed by the beginning of major school vacations and by the end of the school year will be given away to a charitable organization.
Children should not bring toys to school for play during school, except acceptable sports equipment that they are willing to share during recess. The teacher may confiscate toys brought from home. If there is something considered of special value to the class, permission may be obtained from the teacher.
The only items that should be brought to school are those requested by the teacher and playground acceptable sports equipment (no hard baseballs or bats). Items allowed in extended care must be kept in the backpack during the school day. Chewing gum is not to be brought to school or to school sponsored activities, unless requested by the teacher.
Any cell phones brought to school must be kept in the student’s backpack and on silent at all times. Students are not allowed to use cell phones during school time. If a student is caught using his or her cell phone during school or not on silent, the student’s cell phone will be confiscated until the end of the day. Students may only use their cell phone under the guidance of a teacher or support staff. Many smartwatches share the same functions as cell phones (e.g., WIFI, texting, telecommunications). Thus, these types of devices are included in the above policy, even if on “school mode” or similar parental control, and should be kept in the student’s backpack at all times. Site principals are given discretion when considering exceptions.
The following steps will be taken for continuing violations:
First offense for cell phone violation: Cell phone confiscated until the end of the day and will be returned after the parent has been contacted.
Second offense: Phone will be confiscated and will be returned only to the student’s parents.
Third offense: For two weeks, the student’s phone must be checked into the front office at the beginning of each day and picked up at the end of each day.
Students will NOT be allowed to use the office phone without permission from a teacher.
Students involved in off campus activities involving drinking of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, tobacco or immoral acts may be expelled at the option of the administration
Woodland Christian School is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment. In rare circumstances where a student’s actions significantly disrupt the school community or pose a threat to the safety of others, expulsion may be considered. The expulsion process is guided by policies and procedures outlined in the school’s Policy and Procedure Manual. These procedures ensure thorough investigation, clear communication with parents, and a fair hearing process. Parents are encouraged to review the manual for a comprehensive understanding of the steps involved and the rights of students and families during this process.
