Our third Expected Schoolwide Learning Result is A Quality Producer. The human capacity we are seeking to cultivate is self-management, and the formational direction is stewardship.

At WCS, being a Quality Producer is about more than producing excellent work. It raises the question, “How do I steward what God has given me?”

Scripture teaches us to view our abilities, opportunities, time, resources, and responsibilities as gifts entrusted to us by God. Because of this, qualities such as diligence, perseverance, organization, responsibility, and attention to quality are not merely habits that lead to success. They are ways of faithfully caring for what God has placed in our hands.

Students demonstrate this kind of stewardship when they learn to manage their time, complete responsibilities, persevere when work becomes difficult, care for materials and spaces, respond to feedback, and seek to do their work well.

This also means that being a Quality Producer is not the same as being a perfectionist. The goal is not flawless performance or constant achievement. Students will make mistakes, struggle with difficult tasks, and sometimes fall short of expectations. Growth occurs as they learn to respond to those experiences with responsibility, perseverance, humility, and a willingness to improve.

The goal, then, is not simply that students become productive. Productivity needs a direction. We want students to increasingly understand that what they have been given is something to be received gratefully and used faithfully.

For a Quality Producer, growing self-management is directed toward stewardship.

The I55 Book Fair is coming up November 2–6, and Mrs. Geiser is looking for parent volunteers to help with setup, customer service, and cleanup.  Volunteer opportunities include:

• Friday, October 30 at 9:30 a.m. — Book Fair setup (The amount of time needed will depend on the number of volunteers.)

• Monday–Friday, November 2–6, 7:45–8:30 a.m. — Customer service

• Monday, November 2; Tuesday, November 3; and Thursday, November 5, 2:45–3:30 p.m. — Customer service

• Wednesday, November 4, 2:00–3:00 p.m. — Customer service

• Thursday, November 5, 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. — Helping students during lunch recess

• Friday, November 6, 11:45 a.m.–1:00 p.m. — Customer service

• Friday, November 6 at 1:00 p.m. — Book Fair cleanup and packing (The amount of time needed will depend on the number of volunteers.)

Woodland Christian High School's annual Career Day is Friday, November 13! This event provides students with valuable opportunities to explore career paths, learn from experienced professionals, participate in career-readiness seminars, and practice their interview skills through mock interviews and career panels.

Over the years, Career Day has inspired students, created internship opportunities, and helped prepare graduates for their professional futures. One recent WCS graduate even shared how her mock interview experience helped her confidently pursue employment in a highly competitive field!

We are looking for career presenters and mock interviewers to help make this day a success! We welcome returning participants as well as professionals from new and unexpected career fields—from beekeeping and interior design to AI ethics and beyond. Whether you can join us for part or all of the day, we'd love to have you!

Just a reminder to update your child’s medical information, emergency contacts, and authorized pickup information in FACTS.  Even if you are not new to the school, please take a moment to ensure that the information is up-to-date. 

Please take a few minutes to review and update your information by following these steps:

1. Log in to the FACTS Family Portal.

2. From the sidebar, select Web Forms.

3. Select Family Demographic Form.

4. Please review and update the following three sections:

• Student Medical: Please provide your child’s physician and insurance information. If your child has any medical conditions, allergies, or medication needs, please make sure those are also current and complete.

• Emergency Contacts: Please list the individuals we should contact in the event of an emergency. This should include parents/guardians as well as any additional emergency contacts you would like us to have on file.

• Transportation: Please list the individuals who have your permission to pick up your child from school. Please include parents/guardians as well as any other authorized individuals.

Once you have reviewed and updated the information, be sure to click “Save” so that your changes are recorded.

If you have any polo dresses that you would like to get a WCS logo for, we have several options:

1. Qualitees can embroider the logo on for $12 each. You can reach them in person at 622 Cottonwood Street, Woodland or go to their online store at www.weprintlogos.com.

2. Valor n Vine can also apply an iron on patch for $10 or a transfer for $5.  You can find examples in the school office.  If you are interested in one of these two options, you can contact Sonnie Martin at 530-867-1627 to make arrangements. 

Boosters is a parent-run club that provides assistance to all of the WC schools, from preschool to high school.  By raising funds for the school through memberships, WC clothing sales, and Booster-sponsored events, Boosters has assisted or covered all expenses for different items and/or needs for the school, such as items for the music department, athletic department, the school facilities, the elementary learning center, and many other extracurricular items.  Please consider joining Boosters to help improve Woodland Christian School for our children.  Boosters representatives will be available at upcoming orientations and welcome-back-to-school events.  You can also contact the Boosters president, Anita Morse, by emailing boosters@wcs-k12.org.

Dropping off students at the gate along Cardinal Way is always the most efficient for those of you who are on your way to work in the morning.  If you use the parking lot in front of the office to drop off your child and/or walk them to class, please be mindful of two things:

1. Park in a designated parking space.  Please do not stop in the lane to let your child out.  This slows down traffic and is potentially unsafe for your child. 

2. If you park, please do not use the handicap spaces unless you have a handicap placard or sticker.  

Online lunch ordering is open for October. A calendar menu is attached.

Keep in mind that:

• The lunch ordering window closes each Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. for the following week.

• If your child is absent, you can come by the school and pick up their lunch. You must contact the office before 10:00 a.m. if you would like to do this.

• Drinks are not included with meals and must be ordered online separately.

• ES ONLY: If your child forgets their lunch and we can’t reach you or you are unable to bring them lunch, an emergency PB&J sandwich with a vegetable will be provided for $5.00. Emergency lunches are not the meal that is on the menu for that day.

• Lunch items and prices are subject to change with little to no notice depending on supplier stock, which we have no control over.

We provide an escort of elementary students over to the other campus after school.  This is only for students with parents/siblings at the MS/HS campus, who need to be escorted across Matmor, or who use the pedestrian bridge across 113.

Students must be picked up by 3:00 pm (M, T, Th, F), 2:20 pm (Wed), or 12:15 pm (minimum days).  Students not picked up by this time will be walked back to the elementary campus and checked into extended care.

Our Student Support Teacher, Mrs. Schroeder, has put together a document of resources if you want to work on additional reading with your student at home.  The document has links to different websites that can be used on a tablet or a computer.

Additionally, she has provided information for a resource related to dyslexia and speech.
