EXTREME EARTH!
This is our art theme in Year 4 for the first half of the Summer Term. We looked at varying images of our planet- deserts to rainforests and also devastating natural phenomenoms such as earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions.
Children then worked in groups of six to create large a1 collages using paper, card, fabric, ribbon, sand, seeds and junk.
The Romans
Year 4 made volcano coil pots.
Year 4 are finding out about China and The Shang Dynasty, we made some sketches of China.

Year 4 have been finding out about The Terracotta Warriors
Children made their own terracotta warrior using terracotta clay.
Year 4 have been finding out about texture, we used different lines to show texture.
Year 4 have been finding out about famous artists who portray water in their work.
We have looked at David Hockney, Claude Monet and Hokusai.
We found out about the technique Monet used to make his waterlily paintings, its called tache which is french for touch.
Year 4 have been looking at the wood cut prints of Japanese Artist Hokusai, children then designed and printed using poly tiles and printing inks.
Year 4 have been finding out about The Vikings in their history lessons, in art we made detailed shaded drawings of Viking mastheads and then made them out of clay.
