Stones and Bones!
Year 3 are finding out about The Stone Age. We looked at cave paintings.
We found out about Stonehenge and made pencil and pastel drawings.
We have moved onto The Bronze Age, children drew amazing detailed pictures of treasure found at Sutton Hoo and The Staffordshire Hoard.
Children made poly tile prints of objects found at Sutton Hoo and from The Staffordshire Hoard.
Year 3 are finding out about Ancient Egypt, in their art lessons children worked in groups of 4 or 5 to collage sarcophagi.
We have been writing our names using Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs. We used sticks and ink.
Year 3 have been learning how to draw a face in profile.
We planned and made Egyptian tomb paintings.
Year 3 are finding out how mummies were made.
We made mummies, we removed internal organs and placed in the correct canopic jars, we filled the cavity with sawdust and closed the opening. Next we rubbed on salt and left for 40 days (40 seconds for us). We then smeared oil and spices over the body. Finally we wrapped the mummy, placing amulets inside the layers for good luck.
