Fourth former Kenny Garcia writes our travel journal entry for Saturday, March 7, 2026.
The morning started off busy. We had to pack our luggage to prepare for Paris and leave the cottages spotless before departing around 10. After carrying our stuff to the front gate, Cole Reade and I carried breakfast that all of us were going to eat on the way to the big city.
After a long car ride, we checked into a hotel called Le Mareuil and then dropped our bags in our respective rooms.
Thus begun the afternoon walking journey to The Louvre, which was astonishing to see in person! There were crowds of people gathering around the museum and a large line forming to enter it. Then it was when we reunited with Ms. Kimball, this time with her sister, Megan, who had flown in earlier today. We had the great privilege of meeting her and exploring Paris together. After this, we strolled towards the Jardin des Tuileries and explored for around half an hour. My peers and I had a wonderful time getting to know Paris with its architecture, the sounds of nature, and its vivid culture.
Next, the evening began to settle upon us and so we headed back to Le Mareuil to prepare for tonight's special dinner. The restaurant we dined at is called Vaudeville and then we met Woodberry alumnus Edward Archer, class of '77, and Max Jordy, class of '25, who were both a pleasure to talk to during an eventful dinner over a pleasant plate Tartare De Bœuf. The remarkable moments were the many laughs I shared with Max who I had not seen since last year's graduation ceremony. As our evening was coming to a close, our group said goodbye to both Mr. Archer and Max. It was delightful to meet Mr. Archer and fun seeing Max once again. This was a memorable night that was a great send-off for our trip.
I wanted to also take a moment to give a warm thank you to everyone who has supported and made this trip possible! Without it, Woodberry may have not hosted another trip to France. A special thank you to our driver, Fanny, and trip helper, Romain, who accompanied us through the week to help deliver an efficient trip. Lastly, a huge thank you to Madame Filkoski and Madame Kimball for being incredible, supportive chaperones and leaders who would do everything it took to ensure all was going as planned.
