Fourth former Laurie St. Clair writes our travel journal entry for Friday, March 6, 2026.
We started off the day at 8:30 by heading into the town of Honfleur for a breakfast consisting of a variety of different pastries, jams, and yogurt. We also tried a multitude of hot drinks to help wake the party up after a busy few days.
After breakfast in Honfleur we loaded back onto the bus headed to Étretat in order to hike up to the tops of the picturesque cliffs for a small lunch at a golf course located atop the cliffs. After our lunch at Resto Golf we headed down to the beach nestled between the cliffs for some pictures and fun. We then went browsing for souvenirs and other items before returning to the bus for the drive back to the Airbnb.
We then had a few hours of down time in which to relax and enjoy the large Airbnb and its amenities. While some retired for naps George, Ben, and I decided to spend some time outside. We decided to make use of the sand lot on the property to play a popular French game called pétanque. Pétanque, similar to bocce ball, consists of a lead ball being thrown and then two opposing teams attempting to land their larger balls as close as possible to the lead ball. This was when we met a very cute dog named Pitt, who rushed through the bushes to meet us, and whose owner was the owner of the Airbnb where we were staying. After playing a few rounds of fetch with Pitt and a few rounds of pétanque we went inside to play a few games of Foosball with Cole. Even with Benjamin holding him back, Cole was still able to put up a valiant effort, but it wasn't enough to beat me and George.
This was when Ms. Filkoski returned from the store having procured the supplies for us to cook dinner. After some trials and tribulations we were successful in making a dinner of pork, fish, rice, potatoes, and many more all conducted by Monsieur Hervillard. After dinner we all participated in a game of Timeline before saying goodbye to Monsieur Hervillard, who helped out with logistics for the week. Then we retired for the night, ready for our last day in France in which we are headed to Paris.
