Most often, students begin their journey in World Language in grade 6 and continue with the same language learning through grade 8.
The majority of our students then continue on in grade 9, beginning with level 2 in that same language. Some students do decide to switch languages when they enter the high school. In all languages, students can study their language through the AP level, if they begin in WMHS with level 2.
In our world language classrooms, students gain skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in their chosen language. They also gain cultural understanding as they learn about the people, the customs, the histories and the countries where the language is taught. In today's connected world, these skills are valuable.

Students identified (via ACCESS testing) as needing to improve their proficiency with the English language take part in MLL. Our teachers work to build students' abilities and grow their confidence in speaking, reading, writing and listening.
This course is placement based for students who have demonstrated difficulty with second language acquisition. The focus is acquisition of basic conversational and phrase capabilities. This course enables students to meet graduation requirements, but it does not allow for transition to level 2 in any of the language courses.
