The Highlander Pathways at West Milford High School seek to encourage and enable highly motivated students to focus their studies in a specific area of interest, to challenge themselves academically, and to engage in connected, specialized courses aligned to career readiness standards. These programs will provide real-world, hands-on experiences, while preparing students for post secondary pursuits. Students will be guided to take courses that align interests, aptitude and college and career goals. The pathways will improve access to courses and enable opportunities for earning credentials and certifications, along with AP and Dual Enrollment credit over the course of 4 years of study.
In 2026-27, we are adding two NEW Pathways to our existing four!
All six Pathway opportunities are available to rising grade 9 (current grade 8) students via application.
NEW Criminal Justice Pathway
Students learn about law enforcement, the courts, and corrections through engaging class discussions, hands-on activities, and real-world simulations. With guidance from certified teachers, former law enforcement professionals, and local community partners, students study case scenarios, investigate mock crime scenes, and examine how public safety decisions are made. This pathway prepares students for future studies and careers in law enforcement, legal professions, public safety, and forensic science.
NEW Emerging Business Leaders Pathway
