Beginning Band at West Lyon starts the first week of school in the Fall of 5th grade. Students receive a 25 minute small group lesson and 2 full band rehearsals each week. The band performs at three concerts during the school year: the Fall Turkey Supper Concert in November, a Mid-Winter Concert in February, and a Spring Concert in May. The main goals for the Beginning Band is to learn the basics about playing an instrument, learn to work together in rehearsals, and to have fun making music together!
