The West Lyon "Wildcat" Marching Band is comprised of all students in the WL High School Symphonic Band, plus an additional group of students who make up part of the Colorguard during 1st quarter. The marching season begins with a three-week camp prior to the start of school in August, plus additional summer sectionals for all percussion and colorguard students. The band rehearses daily as a class during the first two months of the school year. Performance opportunities include all home football games and five marching band competitions in the area spread over four Saturdays. This year the Wildcat marching band will attend Sioux City's Starfest for the first time and return to competitions such as, The Pursuit of Excellence in Marshall MN, Festival of Bands in Sioux Falls, SD Iowa State Marching Band Contest in Sheldon, IA and finish their season at the Dutchman Field Championships in Orange City, IA.
