Vocabulary for Success Routine - Mr. Scharf - ELA - HW: Study Your Words 5 minutes a night!

Day 1 

1. Read the Lesson Passage independently in the workbook.  

            You may listen to the passage as you read it using:  Vocabulary for Success 

Choose the Lesson and click: 

Word List with iWords and Videos - Click the yellow speaker icon next to the passage title.

Now, complete the Lesson Passage Form (in the Google Classroom) to show what you’ve learned.  Try to score 3 or higher!

2. Read the Word Meanings in the workbook to learn new words.

3. Put a question mark (?) next to words you aren’t sure how to use in a sentence. 

Day 2 Review Word Meanings using your vocabulary book or  Vocabulary for Success

1. Teacher-led class discussion of Word Meanings in ELA.

2. Write down anything I talk about to help you understand the word.  

Day 3 Review Word Meanings in your workbook.

1. Complete Check for Understanding in your workbook.

Day 4: Use the School AI “Vocabulary Scenario ‘25-’26” in the Google Classroom to practice using your words in context.

1. Teacher-led review of Check for Understanding in your workbook.

Day 5: Complete Practice for Tests in your workbook.

1. You are encouraged to work with others in our ELA class. (I do not provide the answers to this!)

2. Record the LETTER choice for EACH question in your workbook!

3. This is part of the assessment you will take on Day 10, so you need to SAVE the ANSWERS.  

Day 6

1. Work on Your Choice Activity.

2. Teacher-led class discussion of Word Talk in ELA. 

Day 7

1.  Work on Your Choice Activity.

2.  Study/Review for assessment using workbook, School AI “Words in Context” Sidekick, and/or Vocabulary for Success

Day 8

1. Teacher-led review/discussion of Word-Solving Strategies in ELA.

2. Work on Your Choice Activity in ELA.

Day 9

1. Work on Your Choice Activity & Submit - Due on Day 10 (tomorrow)

2. Study/Review for assessment tomorrow.*

*You need your WORKBOOK in class tomorrow to transfer your LETTER answers for EACH question to the Practice for Tests.

Day 10

      *Assessment on Forms (will be provided in Google ELA Classroom)

          -Complete the 20 assessment questions.

          -1-10 are the Practice for Tests answers (30 pts.)          

          -Multiple choice/Write your own sentences <after Lesson 3> (30 pts.)

          -Your Choice Activity (40 pts.)    

Your Choice Activities (choose one for each Vocabulary Lesson) - Quality Work Expected:

*Slides - 10 vocab. words used properly in sentences with w/context clues & related pictures.

*Old School - Complete Expand Word Meanings, Word Associations, Check Again & Challenge Yourself in the workbook with quality effort. 

*WeVideo - 10 vocabulary words used properly in sentences w/context clues & related pictures, video, & effects.  Be creative!  (Make sure the text is readable)
