CURRICULUM: Language Arts:

Word Study/ Spelling/ Vocabulary (Flocabulary):

• Spelling and Vocabulary will be assessed on alternating Fridays.

(Therefore, every Friday there will be either a Spelling Test or a Vocabulary Test.)

Writing:

• Personal Narrative, Literary Essay, Compare/Contrast Essay, Argumentative Piece, Poetry

Reading:

• Skills: Reading closely for textual detail, characterization and understanding perspectives, analysis of poetry, literary elements

Novels:

• Wonder, The Lightning Thief, Book Clubs

Book Reports:

• Mystery,Historical Fiction, Biography, Choice

GRADING:

Major Reading/Writing 35% (Essays, Tests, Projects)

Minor Reading/Writing 45% (Class assignments, Quick Writes, Quizzes, Vocabulary/Word Stud

HW/Participation 20%
