This is Ms. Crowley, your school counselor! If your last name begins with the letters L-Z, I am your assigned school counselor and we will be working together for all three middle school years. I understand that these times are different, and can be very confusing and cause feelings of stress and anxiety. Your mental health is very important to me, and I am here to support you in any way I can. If you are going through a tough time and need support, please do not hesitate to come see me in my office or reach out to me via email and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
In times when we are feeling anxious or stressed, there are various things we can do to help us cope and feel better. Some examples are:
Deep breathing exercises (slowly breathing in through your nose & out through your mouth)
Positive affirmations (writing down positive quote, lyrics, or word(s) that made you feel good and that remind you of how loved, valued and special you are!)
Physical Activity and Exercise
Listening to Music: Check out Spotify's Relaxation/Stress Relief Playlist
Self-Care: Doing something for yourself that makes you feel good. Some examples can be mediation, a relaxing bubble bath, a healthy meal, time disconnected from technology and social media, etc.
Although times are different, we are in this together and we are here for each other. Some days we may feel frustrated and/or confused, but I promise you it will pass and tomorrow is always a brand new day. I am excited to continue to get to know and support each and every one of my students, and make memories and learning experiences together that will last a life time.
