Billie Eilish, Khalid, Thomas Rhett, Justin Bieber, Post Malone, and Bruno Mars are currently six of my favorite artists and in this section I'm going to talk about some of their life.
Billie is a very young yet popular artist. She grew up in Los Angeles California and was homeschooled with her brother Finneas. Her and Finneas wrote and produced her first single Ocean Eyes in 2015 when she was only 15 years old. Two years later in 2017 she came out with her first album called Don't Smile at Me which was completely written and recorded by her and her brother in their home. Billie now has two albums, five Grammy awards, two American music awards, and many other breathtaking accomplishments for an eighteen year old. Pop is one of the main genres her music falls into, but it can also fall into the genres electro pop and indie pop. One fact that many don't know about Billie is that she suffers from Tourette syndrome and depression, but she does not let that hold her back in anything she does. Another cool fact about Billie is that she is an advocate for body positivity. She purposefully wears baggy clothes so that nobody can judge or sexualize her body and it has sort of become her trademark. A final fun fact about Billie is that Justin Bieber and Khalid have both done collaborations with her before and that she was one of the biggest Bieber fans growing up.
Khalid was born in Georgia, but due to his parents enrolment in the military he moved a lot growing up. Khalid focused on musical theater and singing at America's high school in El Paso, which is where him and his mom settled down. In the beginning of his career he posted music to SoundCloud in order to share what he was creating. In 2016 his song Location blew up, trended on the R&B chart and eventually hit the top ten section of the chart in early 2017. In 2017 he also won the VMA award for best new artist which is quite the accomplishment, along with starting to perform on new platforms and having his songs featured in shows. In 2019 Khalid made history by being the first ever artist to hold the top five spots on the Billboard R&B chart. His main genres are mostly R&B, but he also dabbles in pop and pop soul music. A fun fact about Khalid is that he has collaborated with many different artists including Ed Sheeran, Benny Blanco, and Normani. By collaborating with these artists it has helped share his music throughout many different genres and showed new listeners his songs.
Post Malone was born in New York, but moved to Texas when he was nine due to his fathers job. Post Malone is a stage name that he created when he was 15 years old and is a combination of his last name "Post" and a word that came from a random rap name generator "Malone". Malone's music ranges from hip hop, pop, R&B, trap, and rap rock. Although Malone's father was a DJ when he was younger, he states his interest in guitar came from the video game guitar hero. Over the course of his career he has won three American music awards, a Billboard music award, a MTV music video award, and has been nominated for many other awards that he did not win. A key identification factor on Malone is that his body is covered in tattoos which even spread onto his face. A fun fact about Malone is that on his newest album called Hollywood's Bleeding he had Ozzy Osbourne sing on one of his songs. Although some may not know who Ozzy was, he was a very popular singer during the 1970's and his music fell into the heavy metal genre.
Thomas Rhett grew up in Georgia, and later attended college in Tennessee. When he was twenty he decided that college wasn't for him and dropped out in order to pursue his passion in music. In the beginning of his music career he started to help co-write songs for Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, and Florida Georgia Line. In 2012 Rhett finally debuted his first single called "Something to Do with My Hands" and continued to release a second song throughout the year. Rhett's main genre that his music falls into is country, but he also dabbles in country pop and country rock. A little more about Rhett's personal life is that in 2012 he got married to Lauren Gregory and three years later they adopted their first daughter from Uganda. Rhett now has two more daughters that his wife gave birth to in 2017 and 2020. Career wise Rhett has been nominated for many awards, but has taken home about dozen ranging from the iheart radio music awards to the billboard music awards. A fun fact about Rhett is that over quarantine he worked with Keith Urban, Chris Tomlin, Hillary Scott, and Reba McEntire. They all were featured on a song called Be A Light that Rhett created to help lift some people's spirits while everything was going downhill.
Justin Bieber was born in Canada and was scouted in 2009 from the music covers that he would post on YouTube. In 2009 Bieber debuted his first album which topped the Billboard top 100, making Bieber the first artist to have seven songs top the chart. After all of Bieber's tours from his debut album he had a 3D concert film made which was a major success for the box offices. Biebers main style is pop and R&B and when he was younger his music was know for not including sex, drugs, and swearing. Growing up with fame Bieber occasionally got into trouble with the law and wasn't always the best role model for his followers. It's estimated that throughout his career Bieber has sold over 150 million records which makes him a best selling artist, this is just one accomplishment out of many that he has received or won over the past decade. In 2019 Bieber ended up marrying Hailey Baldwin and started to focus more on himself and his relationships with others. A fun fact about Bieber is that he has collaborated with many different artists, but the most popular recurring one is DJ Khaled. These two have become good partners and have produced multiple songs that feature each other.
Bruno Mars was born in Honolulu Hawaii, but moved to Los Angeles to help with his music career. The two musicians that Mars looked up to the most and took inspiration from were Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. Mars started to rise to fame in 2010 when he was featured on songs by B.o.B and Travie McCoy. Mars later than dropped his first album which was actually still in 2010 and it was called Doo-Wops & Hooligans. Although in his early days Mars had a brush in with the law for drug possession they let him off with just a fine and community service. Mars was given the opportunity in 2014 to perform in the super bowl which he accepted and also was invited by Coldplay in 2016 to perform once again. The main genre that Mars's music falls into is R&B and pop category, but his songs also dabble in hip hop, reggae, and funk music. Throughout Mars's career he has won eleven Grammy's, four Guinness world record 's, and many other awards. A fun fact about Mars is that he has collaborated with many different artists including Cardi B, Snoop Dog, and Wiz Khalifa. These artists help get his name and songs out to other genres.
