Welcome to my final project! Art is a wide topic that many view in different ways, as stated in my This I Believe post. My overall purpose of this project is to share some of my favorite genres of music and artists. I personally chose music because it's such a great outlet for many to express themselves. Music impacts everyone differently and hopefully my website will help listeners understand what their music means and maybe even find a new artist that they like.
Pop, country, and contemporary R&B are the genres I decided that I want to break down and explain more in depth. In order to do this I will be researching background information on each genre and then I will break it down into easier terms. Most people have a common knowledge of what these genres are, but I plan to go more in depth and share some new knowledge that some may not know. For example I don't quite know why a certain song or artist is in a genre, but hopefully by the end of this project I will.
Some may ask why do these artists go through all of this work to produce content that they don't know if many will enjoy. The answer to that is it is what they are passionate about and they want to share what they make with others so they can enjoy it and that it might help others through tough times. Music would not be around if it wasn't for songwriters and singers who work endlessly to produce content. Artist's make music for everyone including themselves which is why it is so important that they keep producing new songs. Of course if all artists stopped producing music we would have old songs to listen to still, but as time goes on we need music that will help us go through the ups and downs of life. Without any new music it will get harder to relate to songs the older they get and that is why artist's producing new music is extremely important for everyone's mental health and happiness in the long run.
In my website you will see that I'm focusing on six of my favorite artists and tying them into what genre they belong to. Along with that I will also be sharing background information on each of the artists and how they got into music. I will also choose pieces of art from each artist to break down and compare to the genre and how it fits in. Hopefully by doing this I can introduce others to new artists or music that you may have not listened to before. Although the artists that I am choosing are very popular, maybe I'll introduce a song readers never heard of or a life fact about the artist will captivate their interest.
One major takeaway that I hope my website provides you with is a new knowledge on the genres, songs, and artists that I chose to break down. I definitely know that I will be learning new facts during my research and process of completing this project. Music can be a great outlet for many people and I really hope that my website teaches readers something new or introduces them to a new artist, genre, or song that they never listened to before.
