Post Malone's music is usually faster than the song I have chosen, but it still falls into the pop genre. Unlike most of his other songs this one is acoustic, but it still fits into the pop genre because of the chorus he uses. Malone currently has five albums out that all explore different styles, this song comes from this third album called Beerbongs & Bentleys. Although he explores different styles throughout his music it is all usually similar and falls into the pop genre.
This song shows Malone's raw emotions as he realizes that his relationship is on a downward spiral. The song has a heavy guitar presence as the beat and this is unlike what he usually has in his other songs. By changing the way this song was created helps show his versatility in what kind of music that he produces and shows that It doesn't always have to be heavy pop. The main takeaway from this song is what the use of drugs and alcohol can do to a relationship and how much of a negative impact they create. "You know that I'm too drunk to talk right now " shows a way that alcohol disrupts how people think and act which can lead to saying or doing something you didn't mean to. It's clear that this is painful and unwanted which causes Malone to sing this song with all his emotion showing which also shows a different side to his music. Malone has been through a lot and the use of drugs and alcohol sadly have caused many of those problems to arise or have escalated these situations much faster than they should have gone. Currently the use of drugs is very high in America along with other countries and hopefully these songs will help some realize that the use of these really only have negative impacts.
[Verse 1]
It's true that all that you know is all that you are
You said that it's all that you want and more
Fuck off and pour another drink
And tell me what you think
You know that I'm too drunk to talk right now
You put your cigarette out on my face
So beautiful, please, woman
[Pre-Chorus]
Don't break your back for me
I'll put you out of your misery
[Chorus]
Tell me that it's all okay (Tell me that it's all okay)
I've been waitin' on this all damn day (Waitin' on this all damn day)
Call me in the mornin', tell me how last night went
I'm here, but don't count on me to—
[Verse 2]
Stay a little longer if you convince me
And tell me all the things that you have against me
Every time we make up, the truth is fadin'
Everybody's blind when the view's amazin'
Damn, who are we right now?
Can we have a little conversation?
Figure it out with no intoxication
We carry on, what is our motivation?
We're never wrong, how the hell we gonna make it?
Maybe we're used to this
Tell me, what are we to do?
It's like we only play to lose
Chasin' pain with an excuse
I love that shit and so do you
[Pre-Chorus]
But don't break your back for me
I'll put you out of your misery
[Chorus]
Tell me that it's all okay (Tell me that it's all okay)
I've been waitin' on this all damn day (Waitin' on this all damn day)
Call me in the mornin', tell me how last night went
I'm here, but don't count on me to stay
[Guitar Solo]
[Chorus]
Tell me that it's all okay (Tell me that it's all okay)
I've been waitin' on this all damn day (Waitin' on this all damn day)
Call me in the mornin', tell me how last night went
I'm here, but don't count on me to stay
