These electives meet 2x/cycle and we encourage IB students to choose one elective course during their Junior year. These electives offer an opportunity for students to explore new areas of exploration, develop the habit of including creative engagement in their lives, and help fulfill part of the CAS requirement.
Grade 12 students in particular who risk falling behind in their commitment to CAS should consider choosing visual arts, performing arts, or physical education to help them fulfill CAS requirements.
Students earn 20+ CAS hours per course, per semester.
IB Art students cannot earn CAS hours for the Visual Arts elective if they use class time to work on IB Art assignments.

If you are taking an Arts or Music elective where you are spending time practicing your instrument or continuing your explorations outside of class time- which we expect that you are- update your ManageBac CAS Activity once at least once a month- adding the time you've spent and a piece of evidence that supports this as a monthly summary.
I strongly recommend you set a reminder for yourself in whatever organizational system you use to make sure you keep this monthly appointment with yourself.
Why not do this now while you are thinking about it-?
At the beginning of the semester create a new CAS activity with the same title as your team. (see images screenshots) Scroll up on this page to see the section "CAS Hours Earned Through WIS Activities" for the hours you can earn from participating in your sport or team. This information is updated at the beginning of each school year or season as appropriate.
If you are adding to your team or sport participating with individual endeavors- for example you play soccer and you run on your own 3 times a week to support your endurance- update your ManageBac CAS Activity once at least once a month- adding the time you've spent and a piece of evidence that supports this as a monthly summary.
I strongly recommend you set a reminder for yourself in whatever organizational system you use to make sure you keep this monthly appointment with yourself.

At the beginning of the semester create a new CAS activity with the same title as your team, individual sport or regular exercise routine. (see screenshots above) Based on your planned schedule for this activity, estimate the time you will spend each month and enter that number on ManageBac.
If this is an activity you participate in several times a week, you may want to update your ManageBac CAS Activity weekly, adding the time you've spent and one piece of evidence that supports this as a weekly summary. This is a great way to record your progress over time and develop an accountability routine for yourselves.
If this is an activity you participate in once a week, bi-weekly or once a month you may want to update your ManageBac CAS Activity once at least once a month- adding the time you've spent and a piece of evidence that supports this as a monthly summary.
If this is an activity you participate in sporadicly- for example you've been trying to incorporate a regular yoga practice or running regularly into your life- then at first I recommend that you update your ManageBac activity after each occurrence. Why? This is a great way to record your progress over time and develop an accountability routine for yourselves and help cultivate this new habit.
I strongly recommend you set a reminder for yourself in whatever organizational system you use to make sure you keep this monthly appointment with yourself.
