COVID-19/Remote Learning info

Simon & McNair parents/guardians and students:

This has been an unpredictable and stressful time for everyone in terms of adjusting to the new normal brought on by COVID-19. Please click the "Adjusting to COVID-19" tab at the top of this website for more information on the virus, optional social/emotional-focused resources (for both students AND parents/guardians!) for our time spent at home and contact options for counseling services while we are not in the building.

Please note- any information provided through this website is strictly counseling/social/emotional-related. All resources are optional and are aimed at providing counseling services, resources and activities to be utilized IF NEEDED. Any academic information will be communicated with students through their teachers.

why is elementary school counseling important?

If you were like me, there was not a counselor in the building when I was in elementary school. And still today, not every elementary school has one. But more recently, the need has become more and more apparent. The American School Counseling Association (ASCA) has a great article explaining a little more in depth about the needs, duties, and overall importance of the elementary school counselor.
