Process
THE ISSUE
Our process to get this project to you took a lot of steps. The first step was to come up with an issue that was relevant to the world currently. We worked as a class to come up with a list of issues that the world needs help with. Our class came up with a good list of issues that were all relavent. Then we got together with our groups to move on to the next step.
REASERCH AND DEFINE
The next step was to come up with a problem in our groups. My group came up with safety on public transportation. We came up with this topic by first coming up with a list of things that have to do with safety. We decided that transportation was a good topic to focus on because so many people don't think about it, but it is very important. Our next step was to find a client. Our client has taken a ton of public transportation in her life which made her an ideal client. We researched further about this issue and found it is not only a problem in the U.S, but all around the world. We knew we had to fix it so we moved on the to next step.
IDEATE
Our next step involved coming up with solutions that could fix our problem. Our solutions varied from safety apps to chapstick tasers to secret wallets, but our solution ended up being the little lens which is basically a camera that live streams to an app. The cool part is that this camera is a cute necklace! This is very helpful for people struggling with this issue. You can look cute while making sure you are protected! We also had to make sure this wasn't already created. It wasn't so then we had to build it.
TEST, ITERATE, IMPLEMENT
We then started to build the necklace. We 3D printed a circle that goes around the camera. (It took us three tries.) We then painted that circle and decorated it. We added the chain and finished the necklace part. After that we made a case for the necklace. We made it look like a mini book so it was concealed. It holds everything from the necklace to your earrings.
LAUNCH
After we built it, we presented it at a forum. All of the CBL projects were in the gym and parents, students, and faculty got to look at all of our products and give feedback. Our presentation went really well. We got some good feedback and some great questions. We had to have an innteractive element. Our element was to have people take photos using the camera. Everyone loved it and we were super pleased with how our presentation went.
Here are some of the many photos people took using our interacirive elements!
