Prototype

Progression of our prototype

At first, our idea to help blind people type was to make a text to speech, but with feedback from our client, we found that this would be too tedious for blind people. Our next idea was to make braille keycaps, but these already exist and can be costly. Our best and final solution was to make a silicone cover for keyboards, and would fit on every keyboard, with braille on top. These would be cheap and durable, and a great and easy way for visually impaired people to type. So first we made a scaled down 3d printed version of what it would be, than after we made sure it would work. We scaled it up and than we used it as a mold for the liquid silicon that we will pour on it. We came to the conclusion that our prototype would be around $2 to make because it is purely 3d printed and that our final product would be around $10 to make.Â
