These are my dogs, Zoe (brown) and Pesci (dark gray). Zoe is my sweet Staffordshire Terrier (Staffy) girl who passed away in 2022. Pesci is an 14-year old pitbull mix and a bit of a handful! I love snuggling with him on lazy days!
Tony is my partner in life, and we have been together since 2010. He is a Marine Corps combat veteran (Operation Iraqi Freedom: 1st Marine Expeditionary Force: 2003) who works as a union tilesetter during the day and for Stray Rescue of St. Louis in the evenings. In this picture, we were attending the yearly Stray Rescue holiday gala at the Chase Park Plaza.
I had the privilege of traveling to Europe with a group of students in 2017!
It was the trip of a lifetime!
Each of these photos is of a different European city.
The first is at the Roman Colosseum, the next is at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, the next, obviously, at the Eiffel Tower, and the last one is in front of the famous Big Ben clock tower in London.
I cannot wait to go back!
I believe in the power of diverse, relevant, and rigorous texts.
I believe in reading and experiencing whole texts (novels, nonfiction books, and dramas) authentically in order to engage in high quality discussions and analysis.
I believe in discussing what we read, write, and think.
I believe in using writing as a means to brainstorm, process, explain, synthesize, and argue.
I believe that grammar, including rhetorical skills and syntax structures, should be taught in context and used to develop a writer’s unique style.
I believe that assessments should be performative, authentic, varied, and applicable to the real world whenever possible.
